North Shields - Cricket field
Preston Road : NE30 2BE There are reports of regular bicycle track racing on the old cricket field on Preston Road in the 1880's with the highlight meeting being the North Shields Bicycle Club's track meet, which included the Percy Cup race for the club championship.

The Shields Daily News 28th May 1883 reported that the Tynemouth Amateur Bicycle Club held its 7th Annual Race Meet at the cricket ground on June 13th & 14th 1883. There were 1 mile and 2 miles bicycle handicap races as well as foot races and a 4 lap "combination race". The race entry fee was 2 shillings for one event.

Tynemouth Cricket Club moved to their Preston Avenue ground in May 1885.
